PARENT/CHILD VOLLEYBALL
Davidson Volleyball Camps will offer an evenig Parent/Child Volleyball Camp on Monday, July 9, to Wednesday, July 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. That’s in Baker gymnasium on the Davidson College campus. For three evenings, the staff will teach parents and children (ages 5-11) the fundamentals of volleyball. Tuition includes a T-shirt, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. CHILDREN’S ARTS PROJECT
Whether your child is a pirate, princess, printer or potter, there are plenty of choices during summer art camps at The Children’s Arts Project, located in the Cornelius Art Center. Other options for four-day art camps include Webkinz, rockets and robots, wearable art, HogwARTS Academy and more.
The group’s camp instructors will include four Davidson residents who are also artists: Betsy Flagler, Susan Montague, Sharon Conner and Taisia Mills.

CHILDREN’S COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Children’s Community School, a non-profit, public K-8 charter school located in Davidson, NC is offering a wide variety of summer camps for children in grades pre-K thru rising 7. Camp themes offer a wide range of opportunities from cheerleading to babysitter training to webkinz to digital photography and story telling. Camps are held Monday thru Thursday, from either 9:30-1pm or 1pm-4:30.
All camps are open the public and will be held at the school on Griffith Street in Davidson. Scholarships are available. Complete schedule and registration materials are available at ccsch.org. Registration is ongoing, but slots are limited.

CHILDREN’S THEATRE
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte will offer camps this summer in a satellite location at Davidson Day School, Jetton and Griffith streets off I-77 Exit 30. The weeklong camps encourage young people to develop their self confidence and creativity in a fun and energetic environment. Each session is led by a professional teaching artist and culminates in a showcase for family and friends.

Unscripted July 21-25, 8:45-3:30 PM $220 – Being funny is serious business! Work with fellow actors on improvisational techniques, comic timing and slapstick. Campers will learn improvisation skills to create imaginative characters, develop acting skills and create their own script.
Classic Broadway MADD Camp August 11-15, 8:45-3:30 PM $270 – Experience where Broadway began! Through songs, scenes and choreography students will explore the many generations that make Broadway musicals timeless. Family and friends are invited to view the showcase on the final camp day.
CREATIVE ART EXCHANGE
Creative Art Exchange, in the Oak Street Mill in Cornelius, is offering a variety of half-day and full-day summer camps June 16 to Aug. 8, except the week of July 4. Camps include sessions on pottery and ceramics and painting and drawing.

CAMP INVENTION
Register online at www.campinvention.org for a nationally-recognized weeklong summer science and creativity camp. It’s an outreach program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Register 3 or more siblings before May 31 and receive $40 off the base price.
Camps at Davidson Elementary are scheduled June 16-20, with camps at other area locations in June and July. They’re open to kids entering grades 1 to 6. The Davidson camp program has just received a special $25 discount for all registrants. New camp: Spanish Camp for ages 6-12
Abigayl Pansini of Woodlawn School will teach spanish to 6-12 year olds. Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States and the third most widely spoken language in the world. Experts say early exposure to a foreign language has been scientifically linked to higher IQ scores, improved English and math scores, a richer vocabulary and even gives a boost to SAT scores. Each session will cover a different section of material so you can sign up your child for one or all three sessions!

DAVIDSON DAY SCHOOL
Davidson Day School is offering a Patriots’ Summer Camp program for children ages 3-14, providing a wealth of fun activities at the school’s 15-acre campus at the lake. Camp sessions will run for eight weeks, from June 16 to August 15.
Half-day sports camps, half-day music camps, full-day “theme” camps, and full-day “mix and match” camp options will be available. Campers can enjoy everything from soccer, volleyball and lacrosse to water play, arts and crafts, martial arts, cooking, “Mad Science”, computers, story time, drama, Island Adventures, “Olympic Games” and more.

THE AUSSIE LIFE
The Aussie Life” will be the theme of Summer Art Camp 2008, to be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson. The week-long camps for rising first through sixth graders will be led by Jen Faulkenberry, art teacher at Davidson Elementary School, and Kristin Skidmore-Ratnofsky, the former DES computer teacher.
Sessions will be held the weeks of July 28 and Aug. 4 and cost $165 per camper. Camps will offer children a chance to try a variety of mediums – from water color to stamping to paper mache – and also use creative writing to explore the arts. CAMP CANNON
Camp Cannon offers children and their parents the solution for summer fun.
