A salon wall, also known as a gallery wall, is a grouping of paintings & art objects that are arranged in an inventive & authentic way; it most usually happens when you had collected each piece over time. Salon walls can trace their roots back to the French 17th century where various artists hung their work in a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling rumpus of paintings for the patrons of the salons. There is no symmetry in a salon wall & it is truly a charming way to pull together a collection or a grouping of disparate pieces.

A dear friend is planning on converting a potting room in the back corner of her home into an art & craft studio for herself & her little girl. I have been scouring craigslist to send her promising links for a solid wood table & 4 chairs that have the right lines & size to work with a rather large corner cabinet she already has placed in the room. Over the weekend I had a thought, this could be a perfect space to refinish a thrift find with chalkboard paint!
Chalkboard paint can be used in any room ~ as they say, the possibilities are endless ~

pouffe (n.) a tuffet, pouffe or hassock are all terms for for a piece of furniture that is used as footstool or low seat. It is distinguished from a stool by being completely covered in fabric so that no legs are visible.
pouffes ~ or pouf ottomans as they are more commonly called ~ are a very versatile addition to any space. Easily movable, they can become an extra seat, an ottoman or even a side table & can add a little whimsy or ethnic flair into a space.
