Flokati rugs date back to 5th century Greece. Made of 100% New Zealand wool, an authentic Flokati is hand woven on a loom using a centuries-old process & must be washed in the high pressure of the waterfalls in the Pindus mountains for approximately 40 hours. This high pressure water-only treatment, not only cleans the rug but also shrinks its back, thus making the pile thicker & transforming coarse yarn into soft, thick fluff.

Flokati rugs are measured by their weight in grams of wool per square meter; as the weight increases so does the thickness & fluffiness of the pile.
Flokati rugs are naturally stain-resistant & easy to clean. They are better suited to lower traffic areas.
There are a lot of flokati style rugs in the market ~ so if you want the real deal, make sure you research what you are purchasing.
