Davidson College’s women’s basketball team has a trio of games over the next 7 days, beginning Monday, Feb. 14, with a trip to Birmingham, Ala., and a game against Samford. Game time is 7 p.m. CST, or 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time here in Davidson.
The Wildcats also play Saturday at home against Georgia Southern, and next Monday, Feb. 21, at home against Furman. Read the full story

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State’s Omar Carter has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week for games played Jan 4-10, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 11. Carter averaged 25.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in victories over Davidson (74-66) and Georgia Southern (79-51). Carter becomes the first player to win the weekly award twice this season after being named the league’s Player of the Week on Nov. 16.

Davidson College’s men’s basketball team returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 5, hosting Southern Conference foe Appalachian State – a team Coach Bob McKillop on Tuesday described as “explosive.” Game time is 7 p.m. in Belk Arena.

Davidson is 7-6 overall, and 1-1 in the conference. The Cats are 3-0 at home this year. The visiting Mountaineers, behind leading scorer Donald Sims, are 5-7, and also 1-1 in the SoCon. They were picked to win the league’s North Division in a pre-season poll.
