The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga scored the opening two baskets and then stayed just ahead of Davidson the rest of the way to win their Southern Conference women’s basketball game, 64-62, at Belk Arena Monday. Ashley Lax took a pass from Sophia Aleksandravicius and hit a three-pointer with 2 seconds left in overtime to lift Davidson College’s women’s basketball team over Southern Conference foe Samford 78-77 Saturday night at Belk Arena.
The win was the Wildcats’ sixth in a row, and raised their record to 8-7 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Conference. Samford fell to 11-6 overall, 5-3 in the conference.

Junior Donald Sims had the best game of his career, scoring 44 points – including 13 of 13 foul shots – to lead Appalachian State to a 79-68 victory over Davidson at Belk Arena Saturday afternoon. On defense, the Mountaineers’ Isaac Butts was tough under the basket, holding Davidson scoring leader Jake Cohen scoreless.
The loss ended a four-game winning streak for Davidson, which fell to 7-9 on the year, and 2-2 in the Southern Conference. For the Mountaineers, it was the first victory in the past four games as they improve to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the league. Read the full story

ELON, N.C. – Alex Thompson scored 22 and the four other starters also hit double figures as Davidson’s women’s basketball team beat Elon 82-73 Monday night. Davidson College’s men’s basketball team rebounded from a sluggish first half to outplay Samford, 66-56, at Belk Arena Monday night, picking up their fourth straight win and second in the Southern Conference.
The Wildcats were led by Brendan McKillop, who scored a career-best 20 points, including 6 threes, and also had two assists and a rebound.
“I’ve very, very pleased with the victory,” said Brendan’s dad, Coach Bob McKillop. “We played great offense.” Read the full story
