Davidson-based Olympian Anthony “Fam” Famiglietti easily won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Duke Twilight track and field meet in Durham Sunday night as he continues tuning up for this summer’s U.S. Olympic Trials. Meanwhile, Davidson College sophomore Andrew Lantz also ran at the meet in the Durham, shattering the college 1,500-meter record. Read the full story

Ann Fucigna tallied four goals and three assists to set the Davidson single-season points record and lead the Wildcats to a 19-9 victory over Longwood in the quarterfinals of the National Lacrosse Conference Tournament Friday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.
The fourth-seeded Wildcats (8-9) face top-seeded High Point Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in semifinal action at Richardson Stadium. Read the full story

Davidson College pitcher Henry Sisson has been attracting national attention this week for a no-hitter he threw last Friday, April 13, to lead the Wildcats over Wofford, 1-0.
On Thursday, the freshman left hander received two more national accolades for his feat, which was the sixth no-hitter in Davidson baseball history. He was named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame National All-Star Lineup and also named as the CollegeBaseballInsider.com National Pitcher of the Week. Read the full story

Two Davidson College students are among the competitors this weekend at the2012 U.S. Olympic Trials for Canoe Slalom, at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Davidson College’s men’s and women’s basketball team are organizing the fourth annual BUZZKILL weekend for April 28-29 to raise money to help prevent the spread of malaria in Africa. The weekend of events will a 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament, an evening party at Summit Coffee’s Freckled Dog Pub and a silent auction beginning at the Davidson Farmer’s Market.
Wildcat basketball alumni also will be in town for the event, including Bryant Barr, a former Davidson basketball payer who started BUZZKILL in 2008. Read the full story

Davidson men’s basketball forward De’Mon Brooks has been named Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention.
Brooks was voted the Southern Conference Player of the Year by the league’s coaches and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the conference tournament in leading Davidson to its 11th tournament title and NCAA appearance. Read the full story

Davidson swimmer Drew Onken finished 19th in the 400 individual medley in a time of 3:49.65 at the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday. The junior star also swam his second-fastest time ever in the 200 IM Thursday, placing 47th overall. Read the full story
