Sophia Aleksandravicius, Laura Murray and Shneeka Center each scored 10 points, and Davidson held Wofford to 23 percent shooting from the floor to earn a 63-39 Southern Conference women’s basketball victory over the Terriers Monday night in Belk Arena.
It was the 20th victory of the season for the Wildcats (20-7, 16-2 SoCon), which is the second most in a season in school history. It also was the Cats’ ninth straight win, one short of the school record set in 2006-2007. Read the full story

Believe it or not, baseball season is here. Davidson started its 2012 campaign this weekend with a 9-4 opening game loss to Niagara on Friday, then came back Saturday with a 4-3 win over LaSalle at home. A planned Sunday afternoon game against Bucknell was canceled because of rain. Read the full story

Katrin Chiemeka scored a career-high 19 points, including 13 in the final 7:21, to lead Davidson to a 61-54 women’s basketball victory over Appalachian State Saturday afternoon in front of a season-high crowd of 1,271 at Belk Arena.
The win gives Davidson sole possession of first place in the Southern Conference, having swept the season series versus Appalachian. It was the Wildcats’ season-best eighth straight victory and their 17th win in the past 20 games.
Chiemeka shot 6-for-7 from the floor in the second half and scored 16 points. Sophia Aleksandravicius collected 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots in the game. Read the full story

Joe Ragland tallied 30 points and seven rebounds, and Wichita State shot 80 percent in the second half in a 91-74 men’s basketball victory over Davidson before a sellout crowd at Belk Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Shockers (24-4) were 20-for-25 from the floor in the second half and made 12 shots in a row over a decisive 8:22 of game time. Wichita State went on a 24-7 run during the stretch to open an 84-61 lead with 4:49 to play. Read the full story

The men’s team faces the 24th-ranked Wichita State Shockers (yeah) at noon in a game to be broadcast nationally as part of ESPN’s Bracketbusters series. Then at 2:30, the Wildcat women, currently No. 2 in the Southern Conference, face league leading Appalachian State.
