Ashley Lax took a pass from Sophia Aleksandravicius and hit a three-pointer with 2 seconds left in overtime to lift Davidson College’s women’s basketball team over Southern Conference foe Samford 78-77 Saturday night at Belk Arena.
The win was the Wildcats’ sixth in a row, and raised their record to 8-7 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Conference. Samford fell to 11-6 overall, 5-3 in the conference.

Junior Donald Sims had the best game of his career, scoring 44 points – including 13 of 13 foul shots – to lead Appalachian State to a 79-68 victory over Davidson at Belk Arena Saturday afternoon. On defense, the Mountaineers’ Isaac Butts was tough under the basket, holding Davidson scoring leader Jake Cohen scoreless.
The loss ended a four-game winning streak for Davidson, which fell to 7-9 on the year, and 2-2 in the Southern Conference. For the Mountaineers, it was the first victory in the past four games as they improve to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in the league. Read the full story

Davidson College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are both home at Belk Arena Saturday, trying to keep alive their longest winning streaks of the season.
The men face Appalachian State at 2 p.m. The women host Samford at 7 p.m.

Davidson College’s women’s basketball team won its fifth game straight Wednesday night, a 69-53 decision over Longwood at Belk Arena. Seniors Julia Paquette and Alex Thompson had 15 points apiece as the Wildcats evened their overall record to 7-7. Read the full story

Women also win 4th in a row
ELON, N.C. – Alex Thompson scored 22 and the four other starters also hit double figures as Davidson’s women’s basketball team beat Elon 82-73 Monday night. Davidson College’s men’s basketball team rebounded from a sluggish first half to outplay Samford, 66-56, at Belk Arena Monday night, picking up their fourth straight win and second in the Southern Conference.
The Wildcats were led by Brendan McKillop, who scored a career-best 20 points, including 6 threes, and also had two assists and a rebound.
“I’ve very, very pleased with the victory,” said Brendan’s dad, Coach Bob McKillop. “We played great offense.” Read the full story

Davidson College’s men’s basketball team resumes its Southern Conference season tonight (Monday, Jan. 4) when it hosts Samford at 7 p.m. at Belk Arena. The Cats have won three in a row, and four out of their last five, and are now 6-8 overall, 1-1 in the conference. Samford, from Birmingham, Ala., is 6-7 overall and also 1-1 in the conference, and also has won 4 of its last 5. Read the full story

Stephen Curry scored 9 points in his 29 minutes of play in Saturday’s 89-105 Warriors loss to the Trailblazers.
Curry started off with a 25-foot three-point jumper that gave the Warriors a 9-1 lead. The Warriors dominated the first quarter, but held onto only a one point (56-55) lead at the half and then went cold. The Trailblazers, led by Brandon Roy’s 27 points, pulled out the win despite injuries and illnesses. Read the full story

Four players scored in double figures and with Sophia Aleksandravicius had her second straight game of double-figures in points and rebounds as the Davidson beat UNC Greensboro, 67-45, Saturday afternoon in a women’s basketball game at Belk Arena.
It was the third straight win for the Wildcats, and fifth in the past six games. Davidson is now 5-7 overall and 4-1 in the Southern Conference. Greensboro fell to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in the league.
