FARMVILLE, Va. — Senior Ashley Lax sparked an 11-0 run in the second half with three treys to break open a close game and lead Davidson to a 63-53 non-conference women’s basketball win at Longwood Friday night. Karl Barkley of North Mecklenburg High’s basketball team had two big nights in a row this week – hitting 3 point game-winning shots. The shots beat West Charlotte (60-57) on Tuesday, and Mooresville (69-68) on Wednesday.

It looked like two utterly different basketball games Wednesday night at Davidson College’s Belk Arena.
Davidson’s Wildcats out-hustled and outshot the Citadel Bulldogs and easily won the second half, 51 to 39. But that wasn’t enough to overcome a cold-shooting first half that left the Cats behind 46-24 at the break.
Though Davidson got as close as 8 points near the end, Citadel hung on for an 85-75 victory. Read the full story

Former Davidson Wildcat basketball player Andrew Lovedale has formed a new Davidson-based nonprofit called Access to Success (A2S), which he says will continue and expand the charitable work he did while at the college.
