Davidson College student and Team USA kayaker Caroline
Queen tells our news partner WFAE-FM that she’ll definitely make a run for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. In an interview with morning host Duncan McFadyen, she said mistakes kept her out of the semifinal in her event, the women’s singles. “But the preparation I thought was good. The training was good. It’s just sometimes, when you’re working with a moving medium, you’ve got to be on your toes, and I missed some things there.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Queen also wrote about her experience in The Davidsonian, the Davidson College student newspaper, giving herself a tough review. She said her runs were scheduled early in the competition, which meant she didn’t have the benefit of watching many other racers navigate the course.
As she prepares for the 2016 games over the next four years, she writes, “I hope to boost my world ranking in order to earn a later start. The mistake in my first run might have been avoidable if I had watched more racers, since my plan was a little off.”
