Davidson-based slalom kayaker Caroline Queen opens her quest for a medal at the London Olympics as qualifying heats continue Monday afternoon.
She’ll need to place in the top 15 among 21 boats to advance to Thursday’s semifinal. The faster of two runs for each paddler will count.
Queen, 20, is a Davidson College sophomore from Darnestown, Md. She made the U.S. women’s slalom kayak team with her 35th place finish at the 2012 World Cup in Cardiff, Wales.
