It wasn’t much of a homecoming Friday night for the Hough High Huskies as the visiting Mooresville Blue Devils did all the scoring and walked away with a 31-0 I-MECK 4A football victory at Hough High Stadium in Cornelius.
Mooresville quarterback Deonte Black passed for one touchdown and ran himself for two others, including a 57-yard breakaway in the second quarter.
The win boosted Mooresville to 7-2 overall, and 4-1 in the I-MECK 4A conference. Hough fell to 4-5 overall, and 3-2 in the league. The two teams had been tied for second place in the conference going into the game.
Hough couldn’t get the offense going, ending with just a handful of yards passing and rushing. Quarterback Josh Stilley made just 5 of 19 passes, for 20 yards total. The Blue Devils sacked him or tackled him for losses so many times he ended up with minus-33 yards rushing.
Hough is back on the field next Friday, Oct. 21, at Lake Norman High in Mooresville. Mooresville plays at North Mecklenburg High.
