Davidson College’s Belk Arena will be packed with basketball players the weekend of April 30 and May 1, for a pair of fund-raising 3-on-3 basketball tournaments – both with roles for current and former Davidson College basketball players, including NBA star Stephen Curry.
SATURDAY: CHURCH TOURNEY

Members of the Davidson College men’s basketball team will be on hand to referee the tournament games and to facilitate basketball clinics. The tournament will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 30. Teams are in divisions by grade: Grades 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Registration is $40 per team, due by Saturday, April 23. To register a team or for more information, call the church at 704-892-1635 or email info@gbclakenorman.org.
SUNDAY: BUZZKILL IS BACK
Curry, now a Golden State Warriors guard, will return along former teammate Bryant Barr for the third annual Davidson “BUZZKILL,” a 3-on-3 tournament, dinner and auction, April 30-May 1, to raise money to prevent the spread of malaria and provide health education in Africa.
The Davidson men’s and women’s basketball teams are co-hosting the event, which this year will include a Saturday night benefit dinner at the Lilly Gallery on the Davidson campus. The 3-on-3 tournament will be Sunday, May 1, from 2-5 p.m. in Belk Arena. Spots for players in the third/fourth grade and seventh/eighth grade age groups are still open.
As part of the fundraiser, the teams are hosting silent and live auctions. The silent auction is now open online. View the items here.
The live auction will include: A round of golf for three people with Stephen Curry at the Peninsula Club (week of May 2); a night on the air with Davidson radio voice, John Kilgo, and a seat court side for a home game during the 2011-2012 season; a Davidson Wildcats bench seat, signed by Stephen Curry and Bob McKillop, that the Elite 8 team sat in; Two tickets at the end of the bench and a one-night stay at the Davidson Village Inn during the 2011-2012 season.
