Thanks to the dedication of a group Pine Lake Preparatory parents, the charter school will have its own football team next school year and brings on former Davidson College coach Jay Poag to train the future middle school, junior varsity and varsity teams.
“Football completes a school, really,” said Pine Lake Prep parent Calvin Carter. “It’s been the missing link.”
Mr. Carter and his his wife, Cyndi, wanted to help provide that missing link at Pine Lake Prep. In October, they founded the PLP Pride Athletic Booster Club, a 501 (c) 3 organization, to raise money for a football program. And after just three months, the Booster Club announced last week that it had raised enough money and the teams’ 10-game season will begin in August. Continue Reading
