As a professional interior designer, one of the things I look forward to every spring is attending the Kips Bay Show House in New York City. It is the top designer show house in the country and located in grand locations on the Upper East side. This year’s house was on East 63rd street near Park Avenue. Originally built in 1870, it was actually two brownstones that the owner had combined into one residence. Many past brownstones, as did this one, have rooms with 12- or 14-foot walls and elaborate millwork on the walls. In the rear, most have their own private gardens.
