Davidson claims to be a walking and biking community, and a new online tool can help you find out just how “walkable” your part of town really is. The website walkscore.com uses information from online maps and databases to calculate an address’s “walk score:” a rating from 1 to 100 that considers the address’s proximity to a wide variety of destinations, including stores, public facilities and recreation. Home sales rose in December; is this a trend?

Home sales across the region logged a third month of double-digit gains in December and prices strengthened further, although the gains were not enough to boost results for the full year.
The average price last month of $211,705 was up 5.7 percent over December 2008, according to results released on Monday by the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association. That’s a stronger showing than November’s modest 1 percent gain – the first yearly price gain in two years – for transactions through the association’s Carolina Multiple Listing Services.
