Lake Norman Realty will have a ribbon cutting and networking event Tuesday, June 22, from 8 to 10 a.m. at its new Davidson office, 310 S. Main St., Davidson. In May, the firm announced that it had expanded to Davidson by acquiring the former Market Properties.

Home sales in the Charlotte region were up in May over both the previous month and the same period a year ago, but there were signs that sales growth may be slowing as pending contracts were down. And economists are predicting that housing start numbers due out Wednesday will show a decline of about 8 percent.

Market Properties of Davidson has merged with Lake Norman Realty, adding a Davidson location to its existing offices covering the Lake Norman region. The deal means Lake Norman Realty will take over Market Properties’ 310 S. Main St. offices.
Former Market Properties broker/owner Celeste Colcord joins Lake Norman Realty as broker-in-charge at the Davidson location. The company also has office in Cornelius, Mooresville, Denver and Statesville.

CHARLOTTE – February home sales in the Charlotte region rose slightly over both a year earlier and January.
According to residential sales data from Carolina Multiple Listing Services Inc., there were 1,397 closings in February, up 3.6 percent over February 2009, when closings totaled 1,348. Closings were also up 2.5 percent from January.

Home sales hit
record low in Jan.
New home sales fell to an all-time low in January. The U.S. Commerce Department said sales of new homes were down 11.2 percent last month to a seasonally-adjusted 309,000 units, the lowest in a half-century. Charlotte-area home prices ended last year at a new low for this downturn but with a smaller decline than the previous year, based on a closely watched index released Tuesday.
As of December, area prices had fallen 3.8 percent compared with December 2008, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index. That’s smaller than the 7.2 percent loss in 2008, when Charlotte prices first turned negative, but still worse than the national decline of 2.5 percent for last year. Read the full story
