Mark Vitner, a managing director and senior economist at Wells Fargo Securities in Charlotte, will be the keynote speaker Aug. 19 at a construction industry financial symposium titled “Where’s the Money?” The event will include a question-and-answer session with regional and federal finance and credit experts on changes in the construction industry, including credit availability, new credit rules and how to obtain capital and alternative financing. The event is Thursday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N. Main St., Mooresville

David Weekley Homes will host a Summer Safety Fair Sunday, June 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Westmoreland Community in Cornelius.
The event, at 8834 Westmoreland Lake Drive, off Catawba Avenue, includes safety tips and demonstrations with Cornelius Fire Department and Cornelius Police Department. Other non-profit and service providers will be on hand as well, including representatives of Cornelius Animal Shelter, who will have some fury friends on hand and tips on pet safety too.
David Weekley will serve FREE ice-cream in the decorated Model Home. Home tours and home site tours also available.

As we reported last month, a home on Catawba Avenue on Davidson’s West Side has become one of the first in the region to gain “gold” certification in the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program. To achieve that designation, the home had to meet stringent criteria for energy efficiency and sustainability. We asked home builder Rodney Graham and homeowner Michael Orlando for a video tour.

MOORESVILLE – The Parade of Homes is expanding to a regional event this May, stretching from the Lake Norman area south to Charlotte. The Lake Norman (LNHBA) and Charlotte Home Builders Associations (HBAC) have joined forces and are inviting other home builders associations to participate in this annual showcase of new homes. JCB Urban wants to revise the site plan from a 3-story mixed use building at the corner(left) to 3 single family homes(right in red). The new plan would have a smaller commercial lot(blue)
Citing changed market conditions, developer JCB Urban Co. of Charlotte will ask the Davidson Town Board Tuesday for permission to scale back the commercial portion of a lot at Jetton Street and Davidson Gateway Drive and build three single-family homes.
