Davidson United Methodist Church plans to build two new buildings on its South Main Street campus to fill a need for more office, classrooms and meeting space. Church members approved the $7 million expansion plan at a congregation meeting last month. Now the church is turning its attention to raising money, refining its plans and seeking approval from the regional Methodist Church conference.
A study committee worked with ADW Architects over the past couple of years and came up with a plan for two new buildings: one an extension of the current building at 233 S. Main St. that would take over part of the church parking lot along South Main, and another behind the McKay Youth House, across South Main Street. Read the full story

Several home builders and Lake Norman Realty are hosting an open house this weekend in the Davidson Pointe neighborhood off N.C. 115 north of Davidson on Bridges Farm Road.
The open house is Saturday, June 16, from 2-4 p.m., offering tours of homes for sale at Davidson Pointe. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson. Read the full story

CORNELIUS – Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce members have hit their goal of raising $71,500 to pay for construction of a Habitat for Humanity House for a family in Cornelius. The group hit the target thanks to a recent fund-raising party and last-minute pledges from local businesses, according to Denis Bilodeau, chair of the chamber board’s community affairs division.
The chamber had been raising money and planning the Business Build project since last fall, according to Mr. Bilodeau, who also is president of Aquesta Insurance Services Inc. Wells Fargo kicked off the effort by committing $50,000, of which $20,000 was set up as a matching challenge: The Chamber had to raise another $20,000 to get the rest. Read the full story

MOORESVILLE – A trio of designers took home awards Tuesday night in Our Towns Habitat for Humanity’s second annual ReStore Restyle design challenge at the Mooresville ReStore. MOORESVILLE - Our Towns Habitat for Humanity’s Mooresville ReStore will host the second annual ReStore Restyle design challenge on Tuesday, May 1, and is looking for area designers to participate. ReStore ReStyle is talent showcase for designers, a feature event for the Mooresville ReStore and a fundraiser for Our Towns Habitat for Humanity.
