Community One Bank has begun foreclosure proceedings on the Village of South Main, a failed, partially-constructed townhome complex off South Main Street in Davidson. Only a dozen of the project’s planned 39 units have been built, and none have been sold. The developers have defaulted on about $4 million in loans, according to a notice posted at the site last week.

A foreclosure hearing is planned June 6 at 9 a.m. at Mecklenburg County Superior Court in Charlotte. Read the full story

CHARLOTTE – Residential home sales declined 15.8 percent in April from a year earlier, and they were down 1.1 percent from March, according to figures Tuesday from Charlotte Regional Realtor Association. But home sale prices rose from both a year ago and the previous month, according to the association. Read the full story

The sight of a sexy model in an ad for jeans or perfume or even appliances hardly raises an eyebrow these days. But a small Charlotte-area real estate firm is raising eyebrows a-plenty with its effort to sell luxurious mansions with sexy ads. Some say it’s tasteless. The young Realtors behind the plan say it’s working.

Two-story entrances or foyers are inviting because of the airy open space they create to greet and interact with guests. But they can be challenging to decorate because of the sheer expanse of their walls.

Single-story ceiling heights vary between 8 to 10 feet, these usually are fairly easily decorated with the addition of pictures. Two-story entrances can be 18 feet or more, and often include challenging areas such as small ledges over the door or on adjacent walls. Additionally the front door frequently has an unusually shaped window over it which calls out for a decorative window treatment. Often the window covering needs to also control the sun exposure in the space. Read the full story

Construction spending rose 1.4 percent during March as the nation’s builders started work on more commercial construction projects, from office buildings to factories to homes.
