MOORESVILLE – Plattner Custom Builders of Davidson took the Best in Show award at the 8th annual Best of the Lake Design Competition hosted by the Lake Norman Home Builders Association. Awards were announced at the association’s annual awards banquet on Friday, Nov. 4, at Verdict Ridge Country Club in Denver.

Builder Karl Plattner won the Best in Show for a new home on Brook Street, off Woodland Street in Davidson, in the category of Custom New Home, $701K to $1M.

Plattner Custom Builders also won first in Custom New Home $501K to $700K, for a house at Greenway and Eastway streets in Davidson.

Other area builders and designers winning awards included architect Roger Layman, Rion Homes, StarrMiller Interior Design, International Kitchen and Bath and John Marshall Custom Homes.

The association had 34 entries from 22 builders, remodelers, designers and craftsman to showcase their work. A panel of business and industry leaders and experts from across the Carolinas judged the entries by reviewing and considering design, construction challenges, and accomplishments.

The 2011 awards went to the following:
