In the news: As prices decline, a good time to buy?

NPR: In many places, an economic “double dip” has sent prices back down. But in some cities, including Charlotte, it’s still cheaper to rent.
A report on National Public Radio this week [1] says home prices are down again around the country, after rising a bit last summer – thanks to federal tax credits. The situation has some suggesting it might be a good time to buy.
Is it? A graphic accompanying NPR’s story suggests that it depends on where you live. The chart shows that the Charlotte region is among those were home prices are still high, and where renting may still be cheaper.
