Developer Meeting Street Interests is proposing to construct a 2-story Walgreens pharmacy and office building at the Griffith Street/Jetton Street roundabout, in the Exit 30 area.
The Davidson Planning Board on was scheduled to hear a presentation about the proposal Tuesday night from the town planning staff. Planning Director Kris Krider and Town Planner Parviz Moosavi were to update the board on the proposed site plan, which has been part of the master plan for the site. The architect for the proposal is Jared Ducote.
A site plan given to the board shows a two-story building facing the roundabout, which is opposite Davidson Day School. The building would have about 30,000 square feet of space.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
The Planning Board will begin with a joint meeting with the Town Board to discuss the proposed Woodlands Discovery pre-school off Mayes Road. (See related story, CLICK HERE>)

OH NO! Please don’t put a Walgreens (CVS, REVCO, etc) at the entrance to our lovely town! Tacky, tacky tacky.
I own a house in Deer Park on Davidson Gateway Drive, within walking distance to the proposed Walgreens, and I think this is a terrific idea. The Exit 30 area, roundabout area, and entrance to the town have been developed already in a way that’s aesthetically pleasing and tasteful. Adding a Walgreens is good for those of us not wanting to waste gas driving to other exits; I can already walk to the Harris Teeter, Sabi, etc., and am excited for more retail for my walkable neighborhood. There are empty storefronts on Davidson Gateway Drive, and hopefully this traffic would make them appealing for new tenants.
