Runners, walkers, dog lovers, animal advocates and those who just want to celebrate spring are invited to the second annual “Pawz Too Run” event on Saturday, April 14 on the Village Green in downtown Davidson.
The event, spearheaded by Cannon School ninth grader Joanna Copio, will benefit the local not-for-profit Friends of the Animals, whose mission is to promote responsible pet ownership, provide low cost spay/neuter services and promote adoption of homeless pets.

Mark your calendars for an evening of fun for a great cause. The Lake Norman Comedy Zone in Cornelius, N.C. will donate one hundred percent of the proceeds from its February 7th show to Bit O’Luck Horse Rescue.
B.T. will be the featured comedian for the evening. He has performed at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival has performed on NBC’s “Friday Night Videos.” He has also appeared on BET Comic View, MTV’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, and FOX’s The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show.

Smart Deco furniture and consignment store on Sunday hosts Ruffed Up Rescue, a local network of volunteers that save “urgent” or “death row” dogs from shelters and foster them until they find good homes.
Stop by the store Sunday, Nov. 6 from noon to 4 p.m. to meet pups in need and to donate to their cause. Ten percent of Smart Deco sales Sunday will be donated to Ruffed Up Rescue. Read the full story

Community members are invited to “Dine for the Animals” Saturday at Tenders Restaurant in Cornelius. The restaurant will donate a portion of the day’s lunch sales to the Cornelius Animal Shelter.
Also Saturday, Cornelius Animal Control Officers will be at Tenders with some of the shelter’s dogs that are in need of homes. Read the full story

The Cornelius PARC Department and the North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital present the 11th Annual All American Dog Show at Bailey Road Park Saturday, Oct. 8.
Furry friends can compete in fun categories or just go to watch the events, which kick off with the Shelter Strut parade at 5:45 p.m.
Also at the event, author Elisabeth Davis will be on site to sign copies of her book, Harley the Throwaway Puppy. Proceeds from the book signing will benefit the Cornelius Animal Shelter. Read the full story

CHARLOTTE – Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love (GDFRL) and Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue (BRBR) are teaming up Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amos’ South End, 1423 S. Tryon St., Charlotte, to celebrate regional animal rescue organizations at Woofstock.
The event includes food, drinks, shopping, a silent auction and a 1960s-themed photo opportunity for furry friends. Woofstock-goers will have the chance to meet animals available for adoption and learn more about specific breeds to help them decide the best choices for their family environments.
In addition to GDFRL and BRBR, volunteers and adoptees from Ruff Love Rescue, Greyhound Friends of N.C., Coalition to Unchain Dogs, American Pit Bull Foundation and Catering to Cats and Dogs will be at the event. Read the full story
