Copio with a neighbor's Airedale

Runners, walkers, dog lovers, animal advocates and those who just want to celebrate spring are invited to the second annual “Pawz Too Run” event on Saturday,  April 14 on the Village Green in downtown Davidson.

The event, spearheaded by Cannon School ninth grader Joanna Copio, will benefit the local not-for-profit Friends of the Animals, whose mission is to promote responsible pet ownership, provide low cost spay/neuter services and promote adoption of homeless pets.

Mark your calendars for an evening of fun for a great cause. The Lake Norman Comedy Zone in Cornelius, N.C. will donate one hundred percent of the proceeds from its February 7th show to Bit O’Luck Horse Rescue. 

 B.T. will be the featured comedian for the evening. He has performed at the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival has performed on NBC’s “Friday Night Videos.” He has also appeared on BET Comic View, MTV’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, and FOX’s The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show.

It’s time once again to dress up the dogs! The Christmas in Davidson Doggie Fashion Show will be held this Friday in front of the Davidson public library branch. An annual event that was revived in 2009 after a hiatus, the event is sure to attract canines dressed in all of their best holiday fashions.

Dog owners are asked to preregister for the event, which will begin at 7 p.m. Interested parties should send an email to davidsonpaws@yahoo.com with owner and dog’s name, Davidson or other city tag number and veterinarian’s name and number.

Smart Deco furniture and consignment store on Sunday hosts Ruffed Up Rescue, a local network of volunteers that save “urgent” or “death row” dogs from shelters and foster them until they find good homes.

Twenty-six dogs strutted their stuff at the 3rd annual Think Pink Dog Show on Davidson Village Green Saturday, Oct. 22, helping to raise more than $1,500 for the Susan Komen Foundation and breast cancer research.
