To the Editor:
Thank you for putting the article about the rescue of the dogs from the puppy mill in Western North Carolina. Sadly, conditions have to get to the deplorable stage before there is any intervention. From that article, I went to the N.C. Legislature web page about House Bill 930 and have encouraged my friends to email their representative to vote for that bill.
The bill basically includes what any responsible pet owner would do, but specifically refers to anyone owning 10 or more breeding age female dogs. I encourage people to read this bill for themselves. North Carolina is a notorious haven for puppy mills due to lax laws.
Hopefully, if bill # 930 passes the House, Senate and then the Gov. signs it into law, the puppy mill owners will be held to higher standards and will cease abusing the animals.
Thank you again for bringing this to your readers attention.
