The story of a Port St. Lucie, Fla., pit bull mix that was dragged nearly two miles behind a pickup truck Monday now has a Charlotte connection. Holly, who was named for the holiday season, will spend the next couple of months recovering from her injuries, but animal lovers will be able to follow her plight on the Facebook page started by Charlotte resident Ginger Sprinkle and two friends.
Sprinkle, who created a page in November for another injured animal, saw the story Tuesday morning, Dec. 15, and was so moved by the animal’s courage and the need to raise funds for its treatment that she created the page on the popular social media site.
As of 3 p.m. Thursday, the page had 757 members worldwide.
A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after the incident.
