The Federal Aviation Administration said Friday afternoon that it will delay until June 15 the planned budget-related closings of federal contract air traffic control towers. The closings were scheduled to take effect April 1 at 149 towers, including the one at Concord Regional Airport.

By turning off the lights, unplugging unused appliances and powering down computers, students living in 11 Davidson College residence halls are banding together to reduce energy consumption. It's all part of Do It in the Dark, an annual competition to see which living can reduce energy usage the most, is running from April 3 to 24, when a winner will be declared.

Widen I-77, a citizens group opposed to the NC DOT’s plan to widen the interstate north of Charlotte by installing high-occupancy toll lanes, attracted a crowd of 60 to 70 people for a meeting at Cornelius Town Hall Wednesday night.
