After a year of study, Davidson College trustees have decided to affirm the college's current relationship with the Presbyterian Church USA. The decision to maintain the status quo came despite a push by some alumni, trustees and others in the college community to relax the rules. The decision means that at least for now, the college won't change its requirement that the president be a Presbyterian.

Police charged a 42-year-old Davidson man with DWI, and reckless driving after a wreck early Friday at the roundabout near the Homewood Suites off I-77 Exit 30. The college's trustees in a meeting Tuesday approved tenure and promoted Caroline Fache, Maria Fackler and Hilton Kelly. Two other professors are retiring, and adding the title "professor emeritus": economics professor and vice president for academic affairs Clark Ross and history professor Ralph Levering.

Two tractor-trailers wrecked around 5am Wednesday on I-77 northbound south of Exit 28 in Cornelius, injuring one driver and backing up northbound traffic to Charlotte. The accident briefly closed the highway, but the left lane was reopened at around 5:30, according to Huntersville Fire Department. STORY & PHOTOS on CorneliusNews.net.

What will it take to elevate the game of soccer in the U.S.? Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids and the youth sports nonprofit North Meck Soccer Club think the answer lies in a youth-to-adult training network. CORNELIUS – A Cornelius Police Department officer assigned to W.A. Hough High School has resigned following an internal investigation that found he had sent inappropriate text messages to an 18-year-old female student. Winston Douglas won’t be charged in the incident, the Cornelius Police Department said in an announcement.
