What a Saturday it's going to be in downtown Davidson. The Run for Green half-marathon, Davidson Farmer's Market, Yoga on the Green and a downtown art crawl will make Main Street the place to be. It's also Homecoming Weekend at Davidson College, and all the local hangouts will be buzzing with music, shopping, and food … to mention community.

MI-Connection Communications System customers lost cable, internet and telephone services briefly on Wednesday afternoon after the power went out at the company’s Davidson hub, which serves the Cornelius and Davidson.

Davidson Police responded to a single-vehicle accident involving a collision with a utility pole and made an arrest for simple assault and communicating threats. Davidson Campus Police referred five students to the Dean following an incident early Sunday morning at the Armfield Dormitory. About 150 sailors are expected on Lake Norman this weekend for the 2nd Special Olympics Sailing Regatta, hosted by Lake Norman Yacht Club. Also this weekend, Peninsula Yacht Club pans its annual Peninsula Cup sailing competition. And Lake Norman Sea Scouts have another organizing meeting this Thursday.
