A memorial service is scheduled Monday, Feb. 11 at 11am at Davidson College Presbyterian Church for Lee Sargent, a longtime Davidson College employee, athlete, and ex-POW in Vietnam. Mr. Sargent died Friday, Jan. 25, at his home in Cornelius. He was 70. Read his full obituary here.

Randy Medei
Randal Alan Medei, 23, of Davidson, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, but his spirit lives on. He was born in Melbourne, Fla., Nov. 27, 1988, to Alan and Barbara Medei.
Randy graduated in 2007 from Bayside High School, but his greatest accomplishment was his unabashed “Jesus Freak” approach to all situations, good or bad. Randy was, and remains, a beautiful, unstoppable soul who is now in heaven with his best friend, Jesus. We feel certain Randy is at the banqueting table with all the saints, cracking jokes and being a wisenheimer until their drinks come out their noses. Read the full story

Greta Overcash McKenzie, 68, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at home on her farm with her family and her dogs. Thanks to the quick work of hospice, she got home Saturday afternoon and had a good day on Sunday and enjoyed being at home.

Eugene “Gene” Mack Puckett, Jr., 86, of Huntersville, died Aug. 15, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville. He was born on May 5, 1926 in Mecklenburg County to the late Eugene Mack Puckett, Sr. and Janie Mae Price Puckett.
