Rosemary J. “Roe” Albrecht of Huntersville NC passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 0345 at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte NC due to heart and stroke complications.

She was born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Jan. 10, 1936 and was preceded in death by her parents, John T. Gurgul and her mother Helen S. Gurgul. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles “Bud” Albrecht of Huntersville, her brother Dennis Gurgul and his wife Carmella of Boston, Mass. numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and Uncle Charlie. Robert Hebron Mills, 91, of Mooresville, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville.
Mr. Mills was born on March 23, 1920 in Iredell County, to the late William Pinkney and Emma Blanche Sloop Mills. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy, a member of the Mt. Mourne Volunteer Fire Department and Davidson United Methodist Church, and a retired Police Chief from the Davidson Police Department after 23 years of service. For 60 years Mr. Mills served as a member of the American Legion Post in Cornelius, Williams Masonic Lodge #136 AF & AM, and Scottish Rite-Valley of Charlotte for 50 years. As a member of Oasis Shrine, Order of Eastern Star Long Creek Chapter #151, Mt. Mourne Lions Club, he received the Jack Stickley Award. Continue Reading

Philip B. Gray, 86, of Huntersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012. Born Oct. 24, 1925, in Camden, N.J., he was the son of the late Philip J. Gray and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Gray.

Mr. Gray was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War, serving on the USS Livermore. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors Club and employed at the Rustic Tavern and Compton’s Restaurant as a bartender. Continue Reading

Nancy Culbreth Lancaster, 75, of Huntersville, died Feb. 3, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born in Spindale, N.C., on June 12, 1936, to the late Ben Culbreth and Ruth Jackson Gillespie. Nancy worked as a reservation agent for Eastern Airlines for 25 years. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, as well as a member of the New Hearts Club.

Survivors include her husband Robert Roosevelt Lancaster of Huntersville; son Melvin Wayne Lancaster of Lilburn, GA; daughter, Rhyta Lancaster of Kannapolis, NC ; and Kelly Lancaster Hall of Cleveland, N.C.; and 6 grandchildren.

Brynda Williams Moore, 70, of Davidson, died Feb. 3, 2012, at the Levine Dickson Hospice House. She was born on July 25, 1941 in Jackson, Tenn., to the late Argyle and Margaret Williams. She loved traveling to both the mountains and beach.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Moore and wife Dana of White, Ga., Brent Moore and wife Elizabeth Tracy of Telluride, Colo., and Bryan Moore of Cornelius; brother Tommy Williams of Jackson, Tenn.; and grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Moore. Continue Reading

Elbert Lee Watson, 82, of Charlotte died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte. Born June 2, 1929 in Mecklenburg County he was a son of the late Furman C Watson and Mattie Hopkins Watson.

He was a self employed residential contractor. Mr. Watson served the Lord his entire life. He was a charter member of Statesville Road Baptist Church and a charter member of Northdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher.
