Leonard Knox
Leonard Clontz Knox Jr., 61, of Cornelius, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at CMC-Mercy. Born Nov. 10, 1951 in Mecklenburg County he was a son of the late Leonard Clontz Knox Sr. and Helen Hager Knox.
Leonard was a US Air Force Veteran and employed with IBM as a computer programmer. For many years he was the coach of the “Wildcats” and “Dirt Devils” girl’s softball teams in Cornelius. Read the full story

Charles “Chuck” Hall Daffin II, 71, of Charlotte, died peacefully January 18, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 7, 1941 in Petersburg, VA to the late Charles Hall Daffin and Dorothy Daffin LaRue (as well as his step-father William S. Randall).
Survivors include his wife Inocencia Lezama Daffin; daughter, Wendy Eichenberger and husband Stephen and their children Hannah and Jacob Eichenberger of Keller, TX; sisters, Anne D. Harris of Panama City, FL and Melinda Holbert Henningfield of Medford, OR. Read the full story

Lt. Col. Carl Lee Wilson Sr.
Lt. Col. Carl Lee Wilson Sr. of Mooresville, died at Carolinas Medical Center – Main, in Charlotte, on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. He was 64. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nancy Ann McCall Wilson, his daughter, Amanda Stowe and husband, Scott, his son, Carl Lee Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Vickie, all of Mooresville.

Mildred Workman
Mildred Turnbull Workman of Davidson died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at The Pines at Davidson. Mrs. Workman was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Moultrie, Ga., daughter of the late Samuel Parish and Willie Belle Matthews Turnbull. She attended the public schools in Moultrie and received a bachelor of arts from Georgia State Woman’s College (now Valdosta State University) in Valdosta, Ga., in 1936. Read the full story

Sammy Davis
Sammy Whitfield Davis, 75, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1937 in Troy, NC, to the late Clyde and Mildred Hall Davis. He was a veteran serving in the US Army and retired from Yellow Freight Trucking. Mr. Davis was on the board at South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mooresville, where he was a Deacon. Read the full story

Dessie Irene Talbert Mayhew, 93, of Mooresville, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Serenity House in Mooresville.
She was born on Jan. 26, 1919, in Sasakwa, OK, to the late Jay Lester and Caroline Florence Gaines Talbert. She was retired from Chem-Spun Yarn. Mrs. Mayhew was a member of McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church in Mooresville, where she was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of United Methodist Women, and Youth Leader in the MYF. Robert Holden
Robert Neal Holden of Cornelius, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his residence. He was 85. He was born May 21, 1927 in Nebo, NC, son of the late Raleigh Gaston Holden and Bonnie Ruth Ray Holden.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, at 11am at Northdale Baptist Church, with the Rev. McCray Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at Northlake Memorial Gardens . The family will receive friends at the church at 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Read the full story
