Clarence Railey

Clarence Eugene Railey, of Mooresville, crossed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, Sept. 28, 2013. He was 87.

Clarence was born in Rock Hill, SC, to Daniel E. Railey Sr. and Letha Gibson Railey on March 16, 1926, the fourth of five children. The family lived in several neighborhoods of Charlotte before settling in the Newell Community when Clarence was in 6th grade. He went to Newell School until he went into the Navy during WWII in 1943. That’s where he began his career as a steamfitter. When he came home from the war, he started dating Peggy Kimbrell, and they married Nov. 3, 1946 and were married almost 67 years. Read the full story

Evelyn (Sissy) Armenta Wells Wallace died in her home in Savannah, GA, on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. She was 70. Born in Charlotte, NC, on April 6, 1943, she was the second child of Edward and Audrey Wells, graduated from North Mecklenburg High School, attended Kings Business School, was a member of the staffs of Erskine College and Agnes Scott College, served as administrative assistant to the regional presidents of Cummins Carolina Diesel, Kraft Foods and Alliant Food Service. Charles Howard “Pooner” Penninger Jr., 64, of Charlotte, died Sept. 24, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born Aug. 25, 1949, in Mecklenburg County to the late Charles H. and Betty Jo Penninger. He served his country in the US Army, was a master mason at the Derita Masonic Lodge No. 715, and retired from the NC Department of Transportation. He was an avid outdoorsman who never met a stranger and was loved by all who met him. Read the full story

James “Randy” Randolph Ervin, 77, of Charlotte passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Randy was born April 5, 1936, in Charlotte, to the late Joseph and Christine Keziah Ervin. He was a truck driver with Estes Express Lines for many years.

Randy was a member and deacon at the Cedars of Lebanon Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, racing, horses and mules but most of all loved to be with his family. Read the full story
