Robert “Bob” McCrum Watts, 95, of Sherrills Ford, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice, Newton. Born May 25, 1917, in Queens, NY, he was a son of the late Robert William and Roberta Stewart Watts.
Mr. Watts was a self-employed carpenter. He was a World War II veteran having served in the US Army. Mr. Watts was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Sherrills Ford, for 36 years. He was raised a Master Mason in Baldwin, NY, and along with his wife, was a member of the Order of the Easter Star in Baldwin, NY.
Mr. Watts was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Henry Watts; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his children, Marta McIvor, of Long Island, NY, Jacqueline “Jackie” Watts, of Sherrills Ford, and Robert McCrum “Mac” Watts, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Lewes, DE; sister-in-law, Marion Watts, of Raleigh; and grandchildren, Micheline Watts, of California, Siobhan Watts, and Ceallaigh Watts, both of Long Island, NY.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Sherrills Ford, with Rev. Ken Curtis, Rev. Linda Royer and Rev. Grady Barringer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM, Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church.
