He was born on June 14, 1940 in Mooresville, to the late Leonard and Julia Winecoff Karriker.
He was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 16. He was retired from Duke Energy and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson. Bud built race cars and enjoyed racing cars and lawn mowers. He liked to restore old tractors and participated in tractor pulls. He was a prize winning rabbit breeder.
Bud loved his family and if you were fortunate enough to be his friend, you were blessed with his loyalty, honesty, and his sense of humor. He loved life but also loved the thought of going home to see his Lord and Savior. He will certainly be missed by many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Richard Gibbs and Gary Barrett.
Mr. Karriker is survived by his children, Lori Joyner and husband, Sonny, Kenneth W. Karrkier, Jr.; sisters, Peggy Gibbs and husband, Herman Huffman, Brenda Barrett; soulmate, Carol Cribb; grandchildren, Shana, Brooke, Austin, Jennifer; and great grandchildren, Natalie and Matthew.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 19 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Pastor Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
