Sergeant First Class (Retired) Robert William “Bill” Creswell, 54, of Mooresville, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 12, 2012.
A brief memorial will be held on Sunday, July 15 at 3:00 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Morgan officiating. Immediately following, family and friends will be celebrating his life by scattering his ashes at 4:00 p.m. at PDRA Lake Norman Quarry, 350 Greenbay Drive, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday evening at the home of his niece, at 539 Dixie Drive, Mooresville.
Bill was born August 14, 1957 in Greensboro, North Carolina to the late Robert Earl Creswell and Betty Joyce Poole. After the death of his father, he was blessed to have his stepfather in his life, the late Clarence “Dick” Poole. Bill joined the United States Army after high school, serving until his retirement in 1996. He served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and achieved numerous medals during his years of service. Bill was a graduate of Campbell University and a member of the Piedmont Diving Rescue Association.
He will be loved and missed by his daughters, Marissa Yi and her husband Christopher West, and Jennifer Creswell; a granddaughter, Lynessa Dae West; his sisters, Lori Underwood and Becky Thomas, and brother, Tim Creswell; several nieces and nephews; and many diving buddies, whom he considered family.
