Elbert Lee Watson, 82, of Charlotte died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital Charlotte. Born June 2, 1929 in Mecklenburg County he was a son of the late Furman C Watson and Mattie Hopkins Watson.

He was a self employed residential contractor. Mr. Watson served the Lord his entire life. He was a charter member of Statesville Road Baptist Church and a charter member of Northdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bonnie Smith Watson, sons; Allen (Debbie) Watson, Bobby (Chona) Watson both of Mooresville, Billy (Denise) Watson of Rock Hill, Danny Watson of Charlotte; brother, James, Herman, Furman and Douglas Watson; sisters, Ruby Jackson and Sarah Cochrane; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Shafie, brother, Charles Watson and sister, Edith Melton.
