Obamacare is coming, and its success depends on primary-care practitioners. But there are not many of them, according to the nonprofit news website North Carolina Health News. Studies show the U.S. – and our state – ranks at or near the bottom among affluent countries in health outcomes such as infant mortality, heart disease, obesity and drug-related deaths and injuries. These issues are best addressed by primary-care doctors and nurses, N.C. Health News says. And some experts say the state doesn’t have enough.
