Katherine Hebert was introduced Tuesday night as the town’s new Davidson Design for Life coordinator. She will oversee health impact assessment studies and other activities under a $350,000, three-year grant the town won this summer from the Centers for Disease Control. Under the grant, the town will study the impacts of planning policies on health and try to develop programs and policies that promote a healthier community. Ms. Hebert came to the town from Atlanta, where she spent the past year and a half as a fellow at the CDC conducting health impact assessments and training. Read the full story

Snap Fitness said this week it will expand its space in the Renaissance Square Shopping Center at the intersection of N.C. 73, Poplar Tent Church Road and Shiloh Church Road, east of Davidson. The fitness business will take over adjacent space near the Lowe’s Foods and CVS so it can add equipment and start offering new programs, classes and wellness services.  Read the full story

MOORESVILLE –Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has named Lorena M. Silva, BSN, MSN-L, MBA, RN, as the hospital’s new Chief Nursing Officer. She began her new duties November 15.

Lorena Silva received her MBA, MSN-L, and BSN from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Ariz. She received her Associate Degree in Arts-Nursing from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. Read the full story
