The McConnell Running Club’s last official summer running day is this Friday, Aug. 24, at 7:45 a.m. A total of 24 kids have participated in Running Club this summer, coming out twice a week on Tuesday and Friday mornings.
The group runs follow a course around the McConnell neighborhood pond. One lap around the pond is 1/4 mile. And runners aged 2 to 12 years ran a range of 1/4 mile to 5 miles each club day. Collectively, the McConnell Running Club logged over 250 miles between June and August.
Running Club will continue meet and run on Sundays at 2 p.m. MRC will take a break this Sunday, but will start again on Sunday, Sept. 2. The group will meet in the same location at the small green in McConnell, at the corner of Chambers St. and Martin Ct.
All kids are welcome. You do not have to be a McConnell resident to be in the running club.
Club coaches are Ultra Marathoner Jeff McGonnell and marathoner Courtney Spear, both neighborhood residents.
