MOORESVILLE – The 6th annual Lake Norman Excursion will take place on Saturday, July 14, beginning from the Lowe’s Corp. headquarters in Mooresville. The popular 5K and bicycle community fundraiser benefits the American Red Cross and draws nearly 1,000 people every year. Events this year will include:
- 5k run/walk with awards for top finishers
- 10-mile Family Fun Bicycle Ride
- 40-, 68- and timed 100-mile bicycle rides
The 5k run/walk and the Family Fun Ride will take place on a closed-loop course on the Lowe’s campus, and the timed bicycle rides will take participants through scenic countryside in Iredell, Rowan and Catawba counties.
Last year’s event raised $15,000 for the local Red Cross and organizers hope to exceed that number this year.
Registration and more details are available at www.lakenormanexcursion.com.
The Lake Norman Excursion is one of three events that make up the Cool Breeze Challenge, a multi-company wellness program that encourages employee health though running, biking and swimming events. The Challenge kicked off in March with a 5k event hosted by Newell Rubbermaid and will culminate on Saturday, September 9th with a Sprint Triathlon on the Ingersoll-Rand corporate campus in Davidson. Proceeds of that event will benefit the Ada Jenkins Center.
