Firmly Rooted Counseling & Consulting, which opened last November in the Davidson Cotton Mill, has added a new twist to its services: A yoga studio. The business, run by Davidson native Annie Seier, has joined forces with The Tree: A Therapeutic Yoga Studio to form Firmly Rooted Wellness Center.

Annie Seier
Ms. Seier treats families and children struggling with autism and related disorders, including ADD/ADHD. She holds effective social skills groups to help children with social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. Her clients also include women experienced birth trauma, mothers suffering from postpartum depression and families who need support with mothering and parenting issues.
Kim Bridi of Davidson is a yoga instructor trained in creating trauma-sensitive yoga classes and yoga therapy. She has more than 5 years’ experience working with pregnant women and new mothers.
“While I am dedicated to my special needs clients, I really feel the need to reach out to mothers and families,” Ms. Seier said in a press release.
“The entire pregnancy, labor and birth experience is profoundly powerful,” she said. “And when it doesn’t go as expected or even when it does go as expected, women need some help processing and working through the experience.”
Together, the two women plan to create programs to serve women and families.
Ms. Bridi also is trained in Thai Yoga Therapy, a blend of assisted yoga, acupressure and gentle rocking movements to help integrate the body and mind.
“We are taking recovery and healing to the next level with an east-meets-west approach,” Ms. Bridi said.
Yoga classes at The Tree will include trauma-sensitive yoga, the nationally recognized Yoga Warriors program for veterans, Family Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for children with ADD/ADHD and more.
Firmly Rooted Wellness Center is in the Cotton Mill, at 209 Delburg St. (near the Brickhouse Tavern).
