The Town of Davidson Parks and Recreation department announces its Lake Norman Weight Loss Challenge for the summer.
The community weight loss challenge is a 12-week commitment, and runs from June 16 to Aug. 18. The winner of the challenge will receive a cash prize.
THE PROGRAM
Weekly meetings will be held for participants to weigh in and discuss various nutrition topics, including: Protein 101, meal plans, snacking and water , metabolism, carbohydrates, shopping and cooking, cellular nutrition , nutrition labels, fats, portion control, digestive health, dining out, fiber, sugar, exercise, heart health, and maintenance for long-term health.
THE COST / PAY OFF
The fee to participate is $45 per person. $30 goes towards the “winner’s pot” and $15 goes towards venue/weekly prizes. The cash prizes get paid out as follows: 50% to the person who loses the largest percent of body weight, 30% to the person who wins 2nd place and 20% to the 3rd place winner.
There also is penalty money collected from weight gainers – $1.00 per full pound gained and $5.00 for missing a class – and this money will be given to the person who loses the most inches.

The class meets Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. from June 16 to Aug. 18, and is open to people age 14 and older.
