About the Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center
Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center is a non-profit child care center that provides quality, affordable care and education for children ages 18 months-6 years old, in a diverse, safe, nurturing environment. The Center was founded in response to a tragic fire that claimed the lives of three young children. Their mother had no access to child care and her children were home alone while she worked outside the home to support them. As a result, a group of socially-conscious citizens set about to address the need for safe, affordable child care. Community members, the faith community, and Davidson College staff united around the creation of a center that would serve families of all income levels and backgrounds. This vision became a reality, and The Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center welcomed its first children in 1969.
The Center provides quality full-time and part-time child care for local families. Applications are currently being accepted for July 2011 enrollment. Classrooms are filling quickly. For information about enrolling, or to make a donation to Davidson-Cornelius Child Development Center, call Director Courtenay O’Neil at 704-892-1228, or email her at davidsondaycare@gmail.com.
