Davidson Rec offers evening ‘herbal’ series

Davidson Parks & Recreation will host a series of evening programs on herbal medicine this spring titled “Back to Basics.” The monthly programs are April 5, May 3, and June 7. ‘BACK TO BASICS’ HERBAL SERIES
In this beginner’s series, we will go through our garden and see what we can find to heal our bodies with Mother Nature’s help. We will learn how to use plants/herbs as our pharmacy and how to let our “food be our medicine”. For ages 16 and up.
Session 1
We’ll pick a few common plants and talk about how to use them and why. We will discover which regular herbs to add to our diet and how they will benefit us.
Day: Tuesday
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Date: April 5
Fee: $15.00
Session 2
We will touch on cleaning/cleansing our bodies, minds, and homes. We will discuss all the toxins surrounding us and those toxins that we can easily eliminate to help reduce our exposure.

Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Date: May 3
Fee: $15.00
Session 3
We will talk more about nurturing our bodies and minds and how we can heal with foods. We will talk about juicing, soups/broths; herbal infusions; vinegars and tinctures.

Date: June 7
Fee: $15.00
TAI CHI ON THE VILLAGE GREEN
Meanwhile, Davidson Parks & Rec also is preparing to offer a Tai Chi series on the Village Green beginning in May with instructor Joe Martin.
Requiring only one meter of space, “Tai Chi for the Living Room” is designed to provide students with all of the benefits of other forms of Tai Chi, but in 1/10 of the time and with 1/10 the frustration! If you’ve ever quit studying Tai Chi because you couldn’t wait years to reap the fruits of your labor, then this class is for you.
