CORNELIUS – March events and activities at the North Mecklenburg Senior Center will include a safe-driving course as well as a 10-week weight loss challenge.
“The success of these programs rests largely with the number of people who attend, so I urge all interested individuals to take advantage of these unique opportunities,” said Joanne Ahern, the center director.

WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE: Ten weeks beginning March 10th through May 12th, 10:00am–11:00am. Includes private weigh-ins, educational handouts, prizes for biggest loser of the week, tasty beverages. Grand Prize to the Biggest Loser at the end of 10 weeks (based on percentage of weight lost) Fee: $35.00 per person. Pre-registration: (704) 892-4041.
FREE MONTHLY SPICE LECTURE #1–Friday, March 11th, 10:30 am – 11:30 am Speaker: Margaret Moody will discuss what’s new with Alzheimer’s Disease. Beverages and snacks provided. Free and open to the community.

BASKET WEAVING CLASS–Thursday, March 24th from 9:30AM–1:00pm. Choice of two baskets: Pen and Pad Basket and/or Tissue Box Holder Basket. FINANCIAL FORUM LUNCH & LEARN–Wednesday, March 23rd, 1:30pm -2:30 pm. Speaker will be Barbara Bennett, Investor Education Specialist, from the NC Dept. of Secretary of State, Securities Division. Discussion to include how to recognize warning signs of fraud, types of scams prevalent today, psychological tactics used to con victims and responsibilities of stockbroker, investment adviser, and financial planner. FREE MONTHLY SPICE LECTURE #2–Friday, March 25th from 10:30 am – 11:30 am. Topic: “Predators of the Sky”. The Carolina Raptor Center will bring several raptors for the program which is sponsored by Keller Williams Realty. Free and open to the community.

The North Mecklenburg Senior Center., 18731 W. Catawba Ave., Cornelius, is one of four centers operated by CMSC, whose mission is to serve as a focal point to deliver a broad spectrum of services and activities for older adults throughout the Charlotte Mecklenburg community.
