Cornelius offers ‘Couch-to-5k’ training

Cornelius PARC Department is offering a six-week “Couch-to-5K Running Plan” for participants ages 18 and up. Meetings are Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 14 to April 20. All classes are held at Bailey Middle School Track, located at 11900 Bailey Road in Cornelius.
The goal of the program where the goal is to get you from couch potato to runner. The meetings, aimed at beginners, will include warm-up techniques, a running workout that will progress to the 5k distance, and post-workout stretching.
Jeff Heal, owner or Fitness Together in Cornelius and Davidson, will lead the classes. He was a high school track coach for eight years coaching both boys and girls ages 14-18 in the jumping and hurdle events. He has been a personal trainer for more than seven years working with more than 200 clients, including some professional athletes.
Registration is $40 per resident and $48 per non-resident for this six-week session.
