Tyler Hampton, the owner of Davidson Cycle Center at 109 N. Main St., in Davidson, is branching out into some new product lines. Mr. Hampton opened the motorcycle parts and repair business in April 2010, and after a few months in business has decided the traffic outside his front door offers some other opportunities as well.
We stumbled by one afternoon as he and a customer were trying out something called a “Land Paddle.”
It’s a long poll with a rubber tip at one end and a grip at the other that’s used along with a skateboard. Mr. Hampton said it provides a pretty good upper-body workout on a skateboard – not unlike the workout those Venetian gondoliers get.
“It’s a lot of fun, really,” Mr. Hampton said.
Mr. Hampton also is now selling skateboards and bicycles. More information about Davidson Cycle Center is at davidsoncycle.com.
