Cornelius offers ‘Couch to 5K’ running classes

Cornelius PARC Department will offer the Couch-to-5K Running Plan for participants ages 18 and up. This six-week program will be Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30 pm starting Sept. 20 and concluding Oct. 27. All classes are held at Bailey Middle School Track, 11900 Bailey Road in Cornelius.
Beginner runners are invited to join this six-week program, where the goal is to get you from a couch potato to a runner. Come learn the warm-up techniques and post-workout stretching.
Jeff Heal, owner of Fitness Together in Cornelius and Davidson, will lead the class. He has been in the fitness industry for more than 15 years. He was a high school track coach for 8 years, coaching both boys and girls ages 14-18 in the jumping and hurdle events. He has been a personal trainer for more than 7 years, working with more than 200 clients, including some professional athletes.
Registration is $40 per Cornelius resident and $48 per non-resident. Participants may register in person at Cornelius Town Hall or online.
