Team Triumph will host the 2nd annual “Rumble in the Woods” race series Saturday, Nov. 13, at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman. This year’s event features a 5k and a 10k runs on the park’s trails. Both races start at 9 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to wear bright colors so they can be seen on the course, as mountain bikers will also be allowed to ride the same trails during the race. In the event of rain before or on the day of the race, both races will be run on nearby roads, so runners should plan ahead and bring trail and road running shoes.
Team Triumph is a group of Lake Norman area women who participate in triathlons and other endurance sports. They are joined this year by the Spirit Cyclist, which has bike shops in Huntersville and Mooresville.
In addition to the races, the team is collecting gently used shoes at the event, to be donated to Soles 4 Soles. Proceeds from the race will be donated to the Hope House Foundation. The Hope House provides shelter and support to women and their children living in the Lake Norman area.
The women of Team Triumph will provide homemade baked goods for post-race nutrition.
The race is limited to 100 total racers, so early registration is recommended. Registration is open at Active.com. More information on Team Triumph can be found at their website, www.teamtriumphnc.com.
